Showing your partner how much you love them - The Smiling Heart

Showing your partner how much you love them

To enjoy a happy and healthy life, it is important that you share your love with the people around you. Although it is easy to get caught up in the demands of the outside world, you should never lose sight of your nearest and dearest. It is especially important that you express the love that you feel for your other half. If they have been in your life for a number of years, you may have forgotten to do this as frequently as you used to. Don’t worry, there is still time to turn things around. Below are four suggestions that will help you on your way.

Give them thoughtful gifts

Firstly, you should look out for thoughtful gifts that you can give to your partner. Of course, you will share presents on special celebrations such as Christmas or their birthday, but you should also try to surprise them from time to time. This is a great way for you to catch your loved one off guard and to add a touch of excitement to their day. If you are going to push ahead with this plan, just make sure that you do plenty of research. Your gift will be all the more effective if you have really thought it through. For instance, if your partner is a keen vaper, you will need to read more about the type of equipment to buy them.

Write them positive notes

When you are not buying your partner thoughtful gifts, you should write them positive notes. This another brilliant way for you to express your thoughts and feelings. Don’t worry, not all of your notes have to be lengthy and emotional. Every once in a while, you could give your other half a heartfelt love letter. Then, on other days, you could place a cheeky post-it note on their bedside table or in their lunch box. The more diversity, the better. After all, you want to keep your loved one on their toes.

Find time for just the two of you

Another great tip is to find time for just the two of you. This may be incredibly difficult if you are both working. Or, it might be that you are spending your time raising a young family. Whatever the case, it should still be possible for you to find at least a couple of free hours a week. You could always ask your extended family for help or call in a babysitter. It may require some extra effort, but your partner is sure to appreciate the fact that you have made them a priority. If your relationship is going to flourish, you can’t afford to take your other half for granted.

Prepare home-cooked meals

Finally, you should show your love and appreciation by preparing home-cooked meals. This might not be possible every night of the week, but at least once you should go the extra mile. You never know, your partner might return the favor. Even if you struggle in the kitchen, there are plenty of recipes to experiment with. Ideally, you should opt for your partner’s favorite dishes. It could also be a nice idea to call up your loved one’s parents and find out what meals they enjoyed as a youngster.
