Summer bodies are made in winter – or so the saying goes – so it’s time to start thinking about sunny days sipping cocktails in bikinis and focus on getting beach-body ready. Here are some tips towards getting the ultimate summer body.
Change your diet
Almost every summer-body plan involves altering your diet. Depending on your start weight, though, the changes don’t necessarily have to be drastic; just cutting out basic unhealthy staples such as fast snacks like crisps, biscuits and chocolate and cutting sugar out of tea and coffee (or replacing with a low-calorie sweetener) can encourage the pounds to fall off. Adding a few more portions of fruit and veg into your diet here and then can also promote weight loss, particularly if you focus on the so-called super foods. Drinking more water and staying hydrated is a good way to avoid excess snacking; it may sound a wee bit crazy, but thirst can sometimes by misinterpreted as hunger. Drinking a glass of water before reaching the snack drawer could help fill you up.
If you want to be in the best shape you can be, you need to exercise. The level of exercise you do depends very much on you, your motivation, and your goals. Joining the gym and going to classes and engaging in sessions with a dedicated personal trainer is a great way to get in shape, but isn’t always practical and stints at the gym are often short-lived. Instead, try to include elements of exercise into your daily routine; walk to the bus or the tram instead of taking the car, go for a walk on your lunch, and take the stairs instead of the lift. At weekends, enjoy going for walks. As well as helping you to achieve your body goals, light exercise is also a great stress-buster and helps to trigger the release of endorphins (feel-good hormones).
Join a slimming group
Sometimes, it’s difficult to sustain the level of motivation required to consistently stick to a new diet plan or exercise regime. When you’re going solo and are surrounded by people who aren’t on your plan and constantly encourage you to diverge from your path, chances are you aren’t going to do that well – unless you have enormous levels of self-motivation and determination. Joining a slimming group will allow you to meet with like-minded individuals who are also focussed on meeting their goals; statistics suggest that dieting with a supportive buddy is more likely to result in weight loss than just going alone. Not only that, weight loss buddies can offer support on bad days and give you the push to get back on the wagon. You can also swap recipes and tips to add diversity to your diet plan.
Get a tummy tuck or breast lift
While cosmetic surgery is by no means an ideal swap for eating healthily and exercising, surgery to improve the shape of the tummy is becoming a popular choice for women trying to achieve their beach-body goals. Tummy tucks are also popular amongst people who have lost significant amount of weights and want to remove the excess skin that’s often left hanging after the pounds have been shed. Abdominoplasty surgery involves surgically tightening the muscles in the abdomen to improve the appearance of the tummy. As well as stomach issues, rapid weight loss can leave your breasts sagging and less full, this could cause you continued self esteem issues. You can get breast lift surgery from Gary Ross and other qualified practices. As we said though, no surgery is a good substitution for a healthy lifestyle and diet and only a last resort to achieve your perfect summer body.
