It does not matter what you are pursuing in your life, you are doing so because there is a feeling that this will bring you happiness. Every single action that we perform on this planet springs from an aspiration to be happy because it is our original nature. The source of happiness is within you; you only need to take charge of it.
Focus on the Inside and You will Always Find Happiness
Most people are unhappy not because of what they don’t have in their own lives. It is simply because they are comparing themselves with someone else. You are taking the bus and you see somebody in a very nice car and you immediately feel miserable. You have let something completely outside of your control and determine your happiness. Mental health counselors like Radha Singh warn that this type of behavior can lead to negative consequences both physically and mentally and a person should avoid investing in this type of thinking. Remember there is someone who envies your being able to take the bus, when they must walk. Or there may be a situation where things are not going the way you expected. Just as we shouldn’t rely on our expectations, we also shouldn’t get caught up in comparing our lives and situations to others. We all go through unique challenges that are right for each person. We learn, grow and enlighten ourselves by overcoming our challenges, which is precisely why we are here.
Remember, if you depend on the outside to bring happiness to you, the outside never happens 100% the way you want it. Anyone who depends on external things or situations to be happy will never know true happiness in their lives. The key is to look within. If you believe that at all moments you have enough and are enough, then you will always experience happiness and have it available to you at every moment.
Joy is Available for You Any Time
Today is another great day. The Sun is up, flowers are blooming and babies are being born. Sometimes we forget all of these things and think that life is only about bad things that are aimed directly at us. The truth is, we all go through challenges and we are all here fighting the same struggles. Try not to get caught up in the idea of being a victim to your circumstance, because this belief is designed to create suffering. Everything is in order. Suffering is happening essentially because most human beings have lost perspective as to what this life is about. Their psychological process has eclipsed their existential process, or to put it bluntly, they’ve made their petty creation far more important than the Creator’s creation. We have missed the complete sense of what it means to be alive here. A thought in your head or an emotion within you determines the nature of your experience right now. And your thought and emotion may have nothing to do even with the limited reality of your life. The whole creation is happening wonderfully well but just one thought or emotion can destroy everything. So as you understand this, you can also understand that you are able at any minute to gain a perspective that creates positive feeling and happiness for yourself. It is always in your control.
A Happier You Makes a Happier World
The most fundamental responsibility for a human being is to become happy, and we should embrace this responsibility. We can easily get caught in the idea of chasing things we think will make us happy or in trying to have others supply it for us. Happiness should never be based on a set of conditions, it should be available no matter the circumstances you are in at the moment. If I get this job, or mate, I will finally be happy. If I can only win the lottery or look a certain way, then I will find happiness. Instead find peace and happiness in whatever plays out. This comes from not judging everything and going for what you want to in life. Understand that each outcome is a growing opportunity for us. Remember, to be happy is not the ultimate aspect of life, it is the fundamental aspect of life. Other great possibilities open up because you are happy and when you are happy you make more happiness. So, if you are interested in a happier world, the first thing you must do is to make yourself happy. Namaste.
